have you ever gone to a movie w/ your significant other and things were great, then y'all break up and you're at the video store by yourself a few months a later and sure enough that video is on the shelf staring you in the face? more often than not it brings a painful memory and you can't bear to watch the movie b/c you just know that you'll be thinking of when he pulled you close when that scary part came. you don't think you'll ever be able to watch that movie again, just b/c of a relationship that didn't work out.

friendships are a lot like that. like maybe you and your best friend like cruisin the strip and that one song always comes on and you guys blast it as loud as the speakers allow. then you and the friend have it out and no longer wanna pursue that friendship. you're driving down the highway and suddenly that song comes on...my bet is you're gonna change the radio station. even tho you loved the song, it brings back those memories of being friends and that just hurts too much.

i used to love the movie "a few good men". an old softball teammate of mine had an extreme obsession w/ the movie and could recite it word for word. now this goes beyond just the humorous parts, this was opening scene to closing credits. w/ all that repeating, the rest of the team picked up a huge portion of the movie. we watched it together numerous times during our team bonding parties. bam...another friend and i felt like we got played by our teammates. granted by this time the movie girl was in college, but she was still around. her presence still wildly felt. not to mention that she was part of the "screwing process".

so now when i flip thru the tv channels and "a few good men" comes on, it's bittersweet. great movie, that brings hurtful memories to the surface. i wonder how long it's gonna take to be able sit thru that movie once w/o feeling like i got the shaft? truth be told, i prolly can't handle it!
